Change look and feel

Hi. I recently reinstalled Garuda and i dont like the new visual features. Could you please tell me: how do I get the old apps back? like garuda assistant etc , and how do i get the old Konsole look back? the new one with the flamboyant dragon and different UI and no ram usage line i dont like  and how do i revert the old top panel to the previous one? and if i do all this, will the old apps be updated? i also feel like the color scheme for RANI is very, very out of place on the dragonized edition  (maybe better on others)
thanks for your time,
adams

Please, read the template, you missed by posting in a wrong thread.

Make sure you have done the following before you post:

Issue still unresolved? Then:

  • ONE issue per topic.
  • Describe your issue in detail. The more we know, the better we can help
  • Show us the results of your searches, and what you’ve tried
  • After rebooting, post the FULL output of garuda-inxi in the body of the post (not linked externally, or collapsed with the “hide details” feature)
  • Format terminal output (including your garuda-inxi) as a code block by clicking the preformatted text button (</>) , or put three tildes (~) above and below the text

Without garuda-inxi this request will be moved to 4xx Client Error > 412 Precondition Failed

Use pacseek for all Garuda apps and search the forum and the internet for themes you like and how you can easily change them.
The maintainers and developers create the Garuda Linux desktop interfaces according to their personal preferences, which they can change themselves if they wish.
Have you already tried the light version in the RANI settings?

Unless someone feels entitled to do so, no, there won’t by any (feature or fix) updates. It’s just a lost cause. I don’t know C++ well and getting things done here just takes way too long. Though occasionally it might be rebuilt against new libs. But maybe they will also entirely be removed once I see Rani advanced enough.. we will see.

I’m sorry that the new design doesn’t fit you, but in the end you can’t please everyone.

It was specifically chosen to align with web presences and the forum, and uses the same components. If it’s about the colors, I can imagine bringing a new theme color choice for dr460nized to the available choices. Or even better: someone else contributes it :grimacing: you don’t need code expertise to play around with the theme designer on primeng.org (the same goes for all other DE themes. Simply play around with the theme designer and provide me the resulting TS file). It is then very easy to select the right one automatically based on the environment the app was started in.

fair enough, thanks for the reply, yeah i understand that you cant please anyone, its just life. please do send a new colour scheme for garuda rani  the idea is good but the red and candy colours of garuda kinda dont fit with the new colour of rani in my opinion  and sorry for posting this in the wrong place without looking:/

Most of the old Garuda applications are still available and also pre-installed in the Broadwing release (Btrfs Assistant, Snapper Tools, Garuda Boot Options, Garuda Network Assistant, Garuda Settings Manager, Garuda System Maintenance). And you can continue to use the “Garuda Assistant” (sudo pacman -S garuda-assistant) as long as the package is not removed from the repo. There are many old Garuda installations out there where the old apps are still installed and still work fine. And if you do not need Garuda Rani, then simply uninstall it.

As for the top panel, that’s just a widget called “Panel Colorizer” (plasma6-applets-panel-colorizer). If you don’t like it, then right-click on the top panel → “Configure Panel colorizer” and disable the widget. Optionally, you can also simply remove the widget from the top panel (and bottom dock).

And if you don’t like the round corners with the colored window borders (kwin-effect-rounded-corners-git), open the System Settings → Window Management → Desktop Effects. There you can either customize “Rounded Corners” to your taste or disable it completely.

How to change and customize the appearance of the `konsole, there are several topics about it here in the forum, just use the forum search.

I’m surprised there’s not a arch/arc preset that’s been pre done or one that’s just mainly black. but looking at it with a buy in of $249 I would guess some have passed on it. but i might be looking is the wrong spot.

You’re taking about the designer? I find it quite genius compared to others. The tool on their website requires no purchase to be used for getting the colors done and frankly it doesn’t seem to offer much for our use case when a license key was purchased. It didn’t even use to be a thing when I used it the last time.

This “noir” option here could maybe be something you mean as “dark”/mainly black?

In general it’s this tool is just an aid to get own themes done. And looking at catppuccin it also required a lot of tweaking by hand. It might be a lot easier with other themes though, depending on the desired look. But it was still very good to get a starting point done very quickly.

id say any of them could work maybe with these pallets i know its not the full app but i cant export it haha

any work really a simple black back with the primary color being gray can work

I can even pallet swap the G placeholder icon quick. but yeah all this could be down the line.

made the svgs if anyone makes the neutral theme
garuda app button black.svg

The gray, black and blue svg are also in the gitlab Artwork/Garuda App Buttons ¡ main ¡ EliteAMD Garuda / Elite Artwork ¡ GitLab

“A license is required for download”… Whatttttt  okay something definitely changed here. Which is a huge disappointment.. you are right then and I’m wrong, I was basing this on my previous experiences where it wasn’t paid.

But.. it might be possible to hack around that. The website is open, and maybe I can get the theme designer going without a login. It looks like the important data isn’t built server-side :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

The other possibility is changing the code directly .. but that definitely requires some technical knowledge haha.

haha At least I know I’m not just looking in the work spots.

No need to go that far with it. i figured if it was just colors it would be something I could do over a weekend.

I looked at that it, if was just changing the the primary color and background and main name i considered doing it but a lot of it is tied to the mokka file names in parts. I ha don’t think i could do it without breaking/forgetting something along the way. haha
