okay!
so i've been having issues accessing certain system settings apps/applets, this started in early December and the number of system settings applets that are affected seems to be increasing over time. exactly why this is happening i do not know. i do not mess with the OS because it works and if it ain't broke i don't fix it.
i tried resetting all configs to no avail, i tried using Stacer to clear up logs and cache files, no effect.
i tried reinstalling all packages and that left me with other errors like Grub not displaying in the specified resolution so i rolled back to my earliest snapshot from Dec 18 and ran a full update.
still not working correctly.
i have also tried creating a new user and attempting to open the certain settings apps from there, and nope. side note - i had to create a new user via terminal and then use the 'users' page in Garuda Assistant to provide it a password, i also modified the 'sudoers' file to provide admin privileges to that new user following these instructions precisely, with the exception of using "/bin/fish" instead of "/bin/bash":
one effect of this glitch is that when i log in, my desktop background is missing and i cannot make it appear even if i select an image and choose 'Set as Wallpaper' from the right-click context menu. i am forced to log out and then back in repeatedly until it loads the background image (and who knows what else) properly.
another effect is that my second GPU is no longer seen by the system settings 'About this system' screen although it is clearly listed in the Nvidia Xserver settings page - GPU0 and GPU1 are both there.
primarily i am get similar errors in terminal when using that to open 'systemsettings5' and then using the GUI to click the chosen app/applet.

i've been searching around off and on for a few weeks now and come up with sites with details regarding issues as far back as 2014, they all seem to be application specific errors with a generic error message - app "terminated by signal SIGSEGV (Address boundary error)".
i have no idea how to fix this, much of the stuff i come across may as well be chinese to me >.>
i have thought about how to set XDG_RUNTIME_DIR and found some possible fixes but i have not tried this because there is no ".bashrc" file, it has a slightly different name and there are 2 of them in different locations on my root drive. (exact file locations unknown to me atm)
any help with fixing this/these issues would be greatly appreciated.
