thanks for the help.

You mean github?

Ask the developer on github, please.

No. It’s related to the recent update [todays] i ran the update ran some programs after restart and easy effects would not work. I then used snapper and bang back to working. There for go to the dev will not help it’s on your end where the issue is. I would like some guidance not told to take a walk. So i there is any info on what would make this happen or going forward should i switch programs from essy effcts to some thing new.

We do not develop the software. SGS is pointing you in the right direction, not asking you “to take a walk”. The easyeffects package was marked out of date the other day in the Extra repo; there might be a fix pending. If not, bring up the issue to Issues · wwmm/easyeffects · GitHub

this does nothing for me.

will there be a fix for easy effects in the next update for garuda. I dont want to make my own audio app. I used snapper and now easy works but if i update like norm a program i use every day needs alot of extra work to update. I also dont like the attitudes from the dev’s in these fourms. looking to learn to be look down on.

Have you checked if your issue was posted to the project’s issue tracker? There has been at least one issue I see with the version that is currently in the Extra repo (7.2.1-1) where the program won’t start Not statring: undefined symbol · Issue #3611 · wwmm/easyeffects · GitHub

yep. did you see just down from there where a dude points out that the pack manager is to blame and it would be best for him to wait because of how it may effect his system.

hexadecimaldev commented 6 hours ago

Is there a new version available already? Then I have to wait until its added into the openSUSE repo.

Recompiling (building) just links the existing version of easyeffects to the new version of libfmt.so (fmt).

With openSUSE you’ll need to wait for the package maintainer to rebuild easyeffects and make it available for you. I’m not familiar with openSUSE and as this was raised as an arch issue I provided the steps to rebuild on arch (which relinks to the newer fmt) in my above comment.

maybe stop being jerks.

dial back the hostility here or this might end up in 4xx Client Error , I am only trying to help

I don’t think it’s appropriate to make such statements.
Apparently @dall5035 is confusing us with his other slaves.
Aside from the fact that I can’t see that Garuda ships this software on the ISOs, it wouldn’t be our job to repair third-party software.

Since we can’t help you here, I’ll close here.

@dall5035, you can easily narrow down the cause of your issue by holding easy effects at the old package version.

See:

man pacman

Freeze your current Easy Effects version then again update your system. If after performing the update Easy Effects is still working, then it will be apparent that Easy Effects itself is the problem.

If after freezing Easy Effects and performing the update Easy Effects is broken, then another package relating to your audio components is likely responsible. If this is the case you will need to unfreeze Easy Effects and selectively hold your other audio packages until you identify the package causing your issue.

Learn to use Arch’s package manager Pacman properly before complaining about Garuda’s package manager. Garuda has nothing to do with the development or maintenance of the package manager Pacman. Read the Pacman entry on the Archwiki to understand how to freeze/unfreeze package versions.

Aside from the small set of Garuda specific utilities, almost all other packages come directly from upstream. Learn to differentiate where a problematic package originates before placing the blame on the Garuda devs.

Your bad attitude and snarkiness towards the Garuda devs and forum staff is really beginning to wear thin. You have no concept of how free software projects eliminate new bugs. It is the users responsibility when using free software to report problems directly to the bug tracker for the upstream project (not the distro). Easy Effects is not installed by default with Garuda. You installed Easy Effects and you are soley responsible for reporting bugs directly to the Easy Effects project, (if an Easy Effects update is to blame).

Being constantly critical towards the Garuda dev team and forum assistants is not exactly endearing yourself to those who volunteer their time to help Garuda users on our forum. If you have such a problem with Garuda there are hundreds of other Distros to choose from that would I’m sure be delighted to receive a new user such as yourself. :smirk_cat:

Please tone down your antagonism towards everyone involvolved with Garuda, because if you continue on your present course I can’t see you being a member of our forum for much longer.

Garuda is a free project, please treat everyone assisting here with courtesy and respect or you will quickly be looking elsewhere for support.

There is an old saying that applies here:

“Don’t bite the hand that feeds you”
