Can't create WEP Hotspot

Hiya, I want to create a wifi hotspot with WEP security, but the network manager won't let me. I create a new Wifi connection, mode as "hotspot", IPv4 method as "Shared to other computers". The option for WEP in WiFi-Security is greyed out and unselectable.

If it's relevant, the reason I want to use WEP is older Nintendo DSs don't support WPA, and in order to access online services I need a WEP connection.

I'm not quite sure what to do. This is my first forum post so I apologise if I got anything wrong, and let me know if I need to provide more information.

Thanks :smiley_cat:

The reason for this is in my opinion in the fact that NetworkManager uses wpa_supplicant (or alternatively iwd), which do not suppot WEP (a very outdated and insecure protocol...!).

I think you could try to manually set up an access point like here. There is also a hint to avoid troubles with the concurrent use of NetworkManager. I have no idea if this works, I guess so, you can give it a try:
