Can't add widgets to my panel or to the desktop

I just tried to add a widget to my default panel and add 2 to my desktop and Plasma crashes for a quick second and the items aren’t added. I’ve seen the behavior before, but before I could report on it the issue resolved itself. Yes I know I need a reboot, but this was happening before today’s updates and after a reboot from last updates.

I also have this same problem, but it only occurs with dragonized.

If I use another theme, I can add/delete widgets. I can also add widgets in the other theme and then go to dragonized but skip “applying to desktop” and the widget will carry over.

Well That worked like a charm. I put the theme to Breeze and was able to drag the widgets to where I wanted them. Odd since I dragged Desktop Indicator and Display Configuration to where I wanted them just the day before.

I took note of this weird crash. Trying to reproduce it on multiple machines but so far I failed.

I guess this started with Plasma 6.0?

Some time after 6.1 would be my guess. Cause I did a fresh install for 6 and don’t remember having the issue.

I think most likely 6.2, as I am pretty sure I could add widgets before. I have tried it on X11 and wayland, both cause it to crash/reboot. But you can work around it as i mention previously

Ok.
This happens on all widgets and every time or just some widgets and/or sometimes?
It seems to come and go since the issue got resolved by itself and now came back.

For me it happens every single time. It doesn’t matter which plasma widget you add. It goes dark a few seconds, screws up the bottom floating bar, and doesn’t add the widget.

So you as well it’s on a floating bar. What if you give it a try on a non-floating bar? If possible.

I’ve tried using another global theme, going to dragonized and leaving the attached/long bar by not clicking the apply to desktop. Still have same rebooting

Ditto

Can’t speak for @styphonthal but I tried every way with the panels and no love.
