Hi all,
I am posting in the hopes of helping anyone else who is struggling to get their system set up with Garuda.
I couldn't get any of the live image options to boot to anything but a blank screen
I checked and ensured all relevant BIOS options were set with no luck
tried variations of a load of settings with no luck
booted another distro which worked, although I had to use "nomodeset" param
So, I thought I'll do the same, but adding this alone didn't fix the issue
I got put to a terminal, but it would freeze after the start graphical... or keyring... section
I finally found I could get to Garuda terminal by wiping the default kernel params and replacing with:
nomodeset + (the nouveau driver setting still set to 1 - sorry I don't have it in front of me right now)
however after a garuda-update / sudo pacman -S nvidia-dkms , I still couldn't "startx"
generated nvidia conf and retried... it ALMOST loaded up fine... then reverted due to retaining the above kernel params from before (sending me back to terminal with no GUI)
I must admit... at this point, I gave up trying anything else (I had tried all possible iterations of params between the "use proprietary" and "use open source" boot options and absolutely nothing got me past this terminal (or got me frozen at the start graphical.. prompt)
I installed the non-dragonized version to another USB.. left it as default options for booting with nvidia drivers... and low and behold.. it boots
Not out of the woods unfortunately...
by default the "Garuda installer" didn't open due to Python libs missing
ran garuda-update
tried again
now installed and about to reboot.
I can clarify a few points later, but I am trying to do my best to offer some help to those stuck in the same position before my attention goes somewhere else (I have ADHD lol).
Love this OS either way guys - thanks for your work!

Hello, and welcome to the forums!
I've got a few questions for you that the team most likely will ask anyways, so I thought I would save time by asking them now.
What was the exact ISO(s) name(s)? (example: garuda-dr460nized-linux-zen-230501.iso
)
What did you use for the ISO(s)? It is recommended to use Ventoy for compatibility and ease.
Did you check the sha256
?
To verify sha256
/ SHA256SUM
:
put both files (SHA and ISO that share a name) in the same directory, then go to that directory and run:
sha256sum -c SHA_FILE_NAME
replace SHA_FILE_NAME
with the sha
file to check the ISO (example: garuda-dr460nized-linux-zen-230501.iso.sha256
)

Same. My workaround was to install the standard version.
I used shasum to verify the image before downloading. I attempted this again today .

The latest ISO itself seems to be fine since it boots in a VM so it seems to be NVIDIA issue, which I sadly can't test on my hardware.
