I was in a Zoom meeting and attempted to swap my audio device from the built-in to my headset. After doing so the built-in microphone no longer shows as an available option.

I've:

  • Rebooted
  • Loaded snapshot before I installed Zoom
  • Booted into Windows to make sure nothing broke on the Mic
  • Booted into a different kernel

Most likely this is not solving your issue.
I just noticed that you booted on a snapshot but did not yet restore it with the applicable GUI (snapper, I guess) then reboot.
Just to get to a stable status…

Oh I just went back to

parameters: BOOT_IMAGE=/@/boot/vmlinuz-linux-zen root=UUID=ba2fb729-b4b9-49f0-8223-47f0378d19c9

once the issue persisted. Do I need to try the snapshot again and fully restore?

I don't think so.
It is just that if you start installing stuff when still booted on the snapshot without restoring you could encounter issues...

Thanks for the word of warning then!

What about trying with pavucontrol?

Not exactly, but that thread had the answer! I had to change the toggle to 'analog stereo duplex' not sure how it got swapped but the GUI wasn't even showing that a mic existed. Mine had gotten toggled to analog stereo output.

Thanks!
