Bottom Toolbar Not Auto-Hiding

I recently mentioned that the bottom toolbar was not always automatically hiding. It was suggested to change it from “dodge windows” to “auto-hide”. While that seems to have helped, it’s still not consistently hiding. Which is annoying when I need to read the bottom of webpages or apps.

Not much information to go off here… but if you can figure out what the precise conditions are when this occurs, there is a metabug open where they are collecting information 478797 – Metabug: issues with Panel in "Auto-Hide" or "Dodge Windows" modes inappropriately hiding or un-hiding in various circumstances
(Current list of related bugs is in the “depends on” section. If it isn’t reported in any of those, make a new bug report and mark it as blocking the metabug.)

I highly suggest to chime in to 478797 as @Kayo mentioned.

Garuda is not hijacking or modifying this specific feature in any way. In fact, if you were to use a Breeze panel you should get the same issue.

Unfortunately I have not found any clear pattern.

There aren’t many comments on that report!

might want to read my post again…
that is a metabug. There shouldn’t be comments normally . Some are marked spam, because the purpose of that metabug is to list other bugs into a group of bugs related to the “auto-hide” or “dodge windows” not working correctly. That is because there are many different separate bugs that cause the general issue with the feature not working correctly.
