I was wondering if it is possible to add a menu entry for booting from a usb drive when inserted . In systemd-boot?
thanks,
any help is appreciated.

Isn’t Garuda using grub? Did you convert your install to systemd-boot?

Either way, it is possible to add an entry but I am not sure there is an easy way to make it conditionally show up only when the USB drive is connected. Also, the boot method would need to match the install, i.e. legacy or UEFI.

Yes they use grub and yes I converted. Just like it better. If I can get it in the boot menu I don't care if it is conditional or not. I am too lazy to hit boot key when starting up. I am too old to move so fast for these new computers.

Thanks for the help
And Dalto thanks for all of your post on systemd. Only reason I was successful with installing.
(still not positive what Kernel-install-with dracut does) but kernel-install worked beautifully!

You can set grub wait for boot → XXX sec. easy with garuda-boot-options .

BTW, are you older than me or @Bro ?

I can set boot to anytime also in systemd-boot. It is the mother board boot menu that whistles by. And I hate slow.
catch-22 situation I suppose,

Older? Don't know but at 63 I am old enough.
lol
