First of all I’d like to clarify that my bluetooth device (earbuds) are working fine, the issue is on cold booting the PC and happens randomly this happens but I only have one pair of earbuds:

Once the earbuds are connected hci1 one is the one that’s active, hci0 is a ghost that comes and goes randomly on reboots. How do I get rid of it completely. The other issue I’m facing is that once the earbuds connect sound comes from them as expected but onece disconnected, sound is not restored to the PC speakers until I reboot the PC, it won’t matter if I change up the “line out” options listed in the devices section.

So I ran the journal command then this shows up on terminal:-

So how do I get my sound back after disconnecting the earbuds without rebooting the PC?

Could this be caused by sudden power loss to the PC (power outage)?

Is there a way to repair & restore files in Garuda Btrfs like the way chkdsk does for windows?

Please, fix this first.

Also update your system

I usually dread updates very much from what I’ve heard about them breaking your stable build enough for you to do a backup and re-install everything…
:face_exhaling: I’ll do it and get back

Sorry, but you heard bullshit.
I update every day. In the last 5 years, I’ve only had maybe 2-3 times I had to boot a live stick to repair the system .
There was no situation that required a reinstallation of the system.

Confirmed! The update process was flawless and it pleasingly sorted out my issue, no need for any intervention. I guess I made the right call to settle on Garuda Arch-linux, it feels really stable & very snappy.

Like how many outages would it take to damage Garuda enough to run a repair with a live stick?
Do you have the process anywhere listed here in this forum about how you did your repair with the live stick? I’d like to bag it for a rainy day.

Maybe a bug in bluez but mostly what i had now its the Kernel. I had issues with the 6.16.3 to 6.16.10 zen. Now i running 6.17 seems wrking better now but this is just a gues for you. Maybe try a other Kernel like the Mainline or LTS. Maybe you need the older BT driver for testing. W dont know since when it appears. Did you try it without the Apllication just in the Terminal if it have the same behaviour?

It’s hard to say, as it depends on the specific error. I haven’t had this happen with Garuda, but I have with other Arch-based distros.

Usually, you end up booting from a live stick and running chroot (in this case, garuda-chroot) to mount the affected system so you can make changes to it. Sometimes it’s enough to trigger another update. Sometimes you have to reinstall grub or downgrade a package. There are many possibilities, but with the right tools and the forum, it usually takes only a few minutes.

The issue is rather weird, yesterday I shutdown leaving everything as it should be. Interestingly today everything works as it shoulld but I have that duplicate appearance of WF-1000XM5 hci0 & hci1 with hci1 being the one that works. Not sure why this is happening…

How are you swapping your kernel? (did this for lollipop rom back in the days when I had a galaxy note 4 to allow Xposed & a heavily modded stock camera app to run seamlessly)

yes sometimes can be funny. May the cold boot helped a bit. I dont have any earbuds for seeing such icons maybe the pc can see it now because the main one transfer to the second one idk. You can install kernels over the Rani Application and on the boot menu you go in the advanced section to boot a other kernel. The last installed on boot automatic or you can set it up in the rani boot tool.

Now that I shutdown the PC once again when retiring from it, it’s now literally as it should be (no duplicate & still works as it should).

I’ve just remembered in my struggle to get bluetooth to work but in vain, I followed this video tutorial → https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rOL-T31l0lQ

Then after I followed it, it didn’t work, it just suddenly hit me my ports are USB 3.0 but the dongle is USB 2.0 so I just switched it to a USB 2.0 port and it worked right there and then. Now I donno if the instruction in the video caused the hci0 and hci1 to appear for my case. Could you take a look at it and tell me?
