Black screen when booting up from USB stick

Hello!

I saw this issue posted on the forums, but none of the solutions there helped me.

I’m trying to install Garuda Mokka on my Windows 11 PC. I flashed my 8GB USB stick using Balena Etcher (later also tried Rufus), disabled Fast/Secure Boot and set AHCI Mode and UEFI in the BIOS (double checked it in the BIOS). Still, when trying to boot from the USB stick I just get a black screen and nothing else. I also tried booting into my laptop using the same USB, same issue. I also tried flashing Garuda Dr460nized, same issue.

I used this USB stick before, for installing Linux Mint and Arch on my laptop, but it’s kind of old so I guess it might be the problem.

I have an Intel Core i7-9700K, 16GB RAM and a Z390-A PRO motherboard.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Please use ventoy on yr usb to install garuda, etcher and rufus can be problematic

Please make sure to boot using the grub2 option in Ventoy when prompted.
And remember to always verify the checksum (after copying the iso file on the USB).

Had the same issues one week ago.
Used Ventoy, normal boot, blackscreen.
Used Ventory, grub2 boot, working.

That solved it for me. Might be also your case.

Edit:
wupsy, @filo did not fully read your answer where you stated exactly what I just wrote :grimacing:
Sorry!
