Ok now I have restarted my laptop and stopped working again, but then I noticed it works whenever I open pavucontrol GUI and it establishes connection with the audio control
Have a similar issue to this on a new install; audio is not working until the speaker is muted and then unmuted from audio volume pull down in top right corner; refreshing videos playing in windows then start working; sometimes start working right away such as in VLC; continue working until system is restarted.
