Audacious is opening whenever a drive is added

Audacious is opening whenever a drive is added; seems to be a known issue; happens on every system after setting folders to be opened by Audacious. ~ mount - Why opening a folder via a shortcut makes Audacious to start? - Ask Ubuntu

Dolphin is also having issues removing drives; takes a really long time; closing the window seems to speed it up so could be a memory leak issue.

Much appreciated.

Well, don’t do that then :man_shrugging: . Honestly, I do not understand the problem, if you have set the folders to be opened with audacious, then it’s normal that when you add a device, it tries to show the contents and therefore opens audacious…

The intent of opening a folder with Audacious; is to do so once when clicked; auto all folders opening with Audacious on drives being added to the system is (hopefully not working as intended) or an exploit.

Much appreciated.

It works as expected, when you set a default program to open your folders, it will be used for anything that has to do with folders and that includes opening devices attached to the device.

Again, just don’t do that, the default program to open folders should be your file manager, not Audacious.

Should be a way to open a folder of music files with Audacious not set to default.

Did you try the solution in the thread you linked?

Here is the very subtle fact I had not any vision of. I had used Open with other application... on a folder by a right click to make Audacious enqueu the music files inside of it and start playing them. It must have been one of the times that I had forgotten to remove Remember this application for "folder" files option and the system started to open Audacious every time I tried to mount a drive.
To fix the issue I ordered the system to open folders by Caja and the system is now working perfectly fine.

Of course replace Caja for whatever file explorer you are using.

Another way you could approach this is to edit ~/.config/mimeapps.list and remove Audacious from any unwanted file association.

Guess could submit a feature request for Dolphin at some point; not too crucial just seemed like a bug; interesting as always to learn more about Linux. Much appreciated.
