Asus Tuf A16 keyboard not light up

Hi to All,
I’m a newbie about Linux, so please be patience.

I buy a tuf A16 for playing with AI ( no I’haven’t started ) and some CAD projects.
I don’t use windows.

The keyboard of PC works (at start bios in works) but I there no way to light on keyboard.

I tried with Asus Keyboard tool, and with openRGB.

This one seem to see the keyboard but there is no way to light on.

When I work with slow light it’s very difficoltous to see where I’m touch.

There is someone that can suggest something ?

Thanks in advance
Giulio

Hi there, welcome to the forum!
Have you tried installing asusctl?

Try to install rog-control-center from chaotic-aur repository. That can also help you more for backlight control. One more thing asusctl is good option for cli based work & advance. But rog-control-center is still developing.

Not trivial for a beginner, but there seems to be a solution.

Hello, yes i have installed but doesn’t work (6.20).
I also try with linux-g14 as they write on wiki but installation fail …

I will try with rog-control-center …

Thanks a lot ! this wiki is nice !

First of all, in my opinion, you should try the suggestions in the GitLab link from @Apocalypticus.
I understand that without those “tricks”, it’s simply not possible to proceed, with any supporting application.

hi,
thanks for answer.

rog-control-center doesn’t start for x11 problem : need wayland.
I use cinnamon, not kde , so I don’t find a work around.

Fork for W11 is not found (rog-asus-center).

I used directly asusctl but it not works (no light on ) :

╭─giulio@giulio in ~ as :mage: took 0s
╰─λ asusctl leds get
Current keyboard led brightness: Low

╭─giulio@giulio in ~ as :mage: took 0s
╰─λ asusctl leds set med

╭─giulio@giulio in ~ as :mage: took 0s
╰─λ asusctl leds get
Current keyboard led brightness: Med

it recognize pc but command are non working :
╭─giulio@giulio in ~ as :mage: took 0s
╰─λ asusctl info
asusctl v6.3.2

Software version: 6.3.2
Product family: ASUS TUF Gaming A16
Board name: FA608WV

UEFI vendor: American Megatrends LLC.v: FA608WV.305 date: 11/25/2024

Think on a bios update and the right settings after. ( V. 309 is out)

Not shure if this is function with your model.
