Hello everyone.

I have a problem with my microphone on the headset. The quality is so bad that all you can hear is crackling and noise. Have tested 2 other headsets, same problem.

I have been using Garuda for about 2 years. Had to reinstall twice in the meantime. It has always worked with the headset. Set the last installation from 14.07.2024 it no longer works, before that everything was fine, without any problems.

The link is also about the built-in microphone and not about a headset plugged in with a jack.

No more ideas?

As I said, it worked for about 2 years without any problems and suddenly it doesn’t work anymore… I can no longer play games properly without a working micro. I somehow have the feeling that some drivers or packages are being hacked in the background. For example, I suddenly have new audio devices…a52,‘hw 0,3’…that weren’t there before.

Under Chashy OS the same Problem…

@SGS sorry wasn’t my intention, but it’s just getting annoying…2 years it worked all fine and then just this

Please do not post here in the forum, as in chat forums such as Telegram.
As long as no one has replied to your post, you can edit your last post.

Apart from that, posts without new insights are unwanted, it only gives the impression that you want to push your problem over other posts that are patiently waiting for help.

CachyOS?

Maybe you can restore a working snapshot?
Did you search the web?
Which applications received an update and led to the problem?

Without feedback, the developers cannot generate a solution, which is usually done in Github / Gitlab.
Search for the driver for your/this hardware and then in Web/Git and open an issue there.

Im using the same laptop , and thankfully I dont experience the same issue, maybe my inxi can help you pinpoint something…?

Problem found…you have to figure it out first.

I had reinstalled everything shortly before our holiday here in Denmark, but I hadn’t gambled either. The power supply and headset are always connected for gaming. This morning I installed the alsa-utils package again as a test and then it worked. But there was no power supply connected. Just now I wanted to play, again the humming and crackling. I unplugged the power supply and it works without humming. I think this is due to the lack of earthing from the mains here in Denmark. In any case, the switching power supply generates this interference. Strangely enough, it works at home in Germany.

I would have been really surprised if it had suddenly stopped working. I’m going back home (Germany) on Saturday and I hope all will be right with the world again.
