It’s a good thing I don’t have a radio show this week, because Aqualung, my go-to music player, won’t start.

aqualung
aqualung: error while loading shared libraries: libFLAC.so.12: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

This just started. I installed lua-luaflac, and no go. What can I do?

First of all, try rebooting.

Then try downgrading that lua-luaflac or if new, reinstall the package it might have replaced. flac?
Otherwise, you could reinstall aqualung

First thing I did was reboot. Reinstalled Aqualung.

Unable to downgrade lua-luaflac

can you check those installed packages?

aqualung
aqualung: error while loading shared libraries: libFLAC.so.12: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

so i checked if i have those file. i dont have it.

ive installed aqualung fresh on my system and it runs.maybe you can try to build and install again i did this for installing.

git clone https://aur.archlinux.org/aqualung.git

move to folder

cd aqualung/

then

makepkg -i

and its started as you see in the picture.

flac1.5 seems not have the libflac.so.12 anymore may we can link it for luck.

Open a Terminal:

Navigate to the Library Directory:
The libraries are typically located in /usr/lib.
We can try to link the existing libflac.so.14

cd /usr/lib/

Create a Symbolic Link:

sudo ln -s libflac.so.14 libflac.so.12

Verify the Link:
You can verify that the link was created successfully by running:

ls -l libflac.so.12

This should show a symbolic link pointing to libflac.so.14

Run Aqualung:
Now try running Aqualung again. It should be able to find the libflac.so.12 library linked to libflac.so.14.

i found flac 1.4.2 have this file. you can try to downgrade flac to 1.4.2 it wont work but its download the flac1.4.2-1x86-64.pkg.tar.gz to your /var/cache/packman/pkg folder and you can extract it and there is those file in and the libflac.so.12.0.0 file you can copy this to the /usr/lib/ folder for testing. But i dont know if it cause trouble to other programs.

Please be careful with something like this. Symlinking an installed library to the requested library is not a good idea. This should only be used as a temporary workaround if you are an experienced user. And you should always undo this before the next update, otherwise it will go wrong very quickly.

Thanks for clarify this out. I hope he did only a fresh install over git and should be working. The Symlinking is only temporary.Otherwise use the extracted file also can get deleted after a update? @nepti
