After a fresh install, Failed to Authenticate error

So, upon installing Garuda (dual boot with W10) I get in no problem, and everything runs great... Except the update through the GUI. I hit apply, enter the pw, and inexplicably get a failed to authenticate error every time. I'd just be happy to have the command to update through the terminal if someone wants to drop that on me. Kind of a newb, and I might be a buiit out of my depth here. But I'm also fearless (dumb). Thanks in advance for any help offered.

Do you use different passwords for user and root?

sudo pacman -Syu

Nope. Same PW for both. Always do that during setup because I'm also lazy. Thanks so much!

I'm pretty sure I've seen this issue pop up before. If I recall correctly, I suggested testing alternate
GUI package managers and the user reported Octopi worked correctly. Not a fix, but an adequate workaround if you don't mind using Octopi instead of Pamac.
