The default settings for xfce terminal are just black and white, basically. This makes it time-consuming to identify where your prompt was in a long list of rows as you scroll up the terminal. We need to have some kind of color contrast between prompt and output text, to make terminal usage more efficient and user-friendly. So I propose making the following changes to default settings in XFCE flavor of Garuda:
In home directory, create a file called .color
with the following contents:
export red="\033[1;31m"
export green="\033[1;32m"
export yellow="\033[1;33m"
export blue="\033[1;34m"
export purple="\033[1;35m"
export cyan="\033[1;36m"
export grey="\033[1;37m"
export reset="\033[m"
And then in home directory's .bashrc
file, add the following to the bottom:
# User specific environment and start programs
source ~/.color
export PS1="\n ${green} \w ${blue}\$ $reset"
garuda-inxi
