Please delete my account immediately according to Art. 17 GDPR. Remove all information from your database. Anonymizing it is not enough, you need to provide a account deletion for the users’ in the future, reachable by one button click, to be GDPR compliant. Thank you very much in advance.

The reasons are all explained quite well as to why this is preferable when operating a public forum.

Not all posts can even be deleted to begin with; Discourse doesn’t let you because it causes certain issues with the software.
Besides, just take a look at Reddit if you want to see what happens to a forum-style website when users can just go ahead and delete all of their posts if they feel like it.
