A very useful thing that I found on floorp

Hello guys ,
so I was recently getting very annoyed with my new browser floorp ,
because it is very fast but I use to give online tests on some websites which when I open on floorp , it just consumes humongous amount of memory ,
I found that there is an option to reduce it , you can just find it by searching performance , you can select the option which is for minimal memory usage :

well, after that you feel like it had got a little slower (obviously the less ram consumption means slower things )
but you can make it fast again , just look the screenshot I uploaded above , you can another option written as user.js , go into it and apply the option named as Yokoffing fastfox , at the spot you apply your browser will restart

and then you will get some thing which would might just impress you :slightly_smiling_face:

Well, I didn’t needed to certainly make any post or new topic but for those fellas who want to use floorp but the site they mostly use are just, soo big that their 8GB ram stick laptops can’t handle it well, then it would might help(Really it was consuming 7GB of the ram :skull_and_crossbones: ) , because I believe there are many students like me in this community who can’t afford very powerful beasts at their current state :slightly_smiling_face: .

well IDK if I would apply other options from user.jsthen whether it will override previously applied option so I don’t wanna play with it , I just got what I needed :smile:

Well, even there no use of garuda-inxi still here you go :stuck_out_tongue: :

That’s good information.

The new Firedragon based on Floorp uses by default the Fastfox settings provided by Floorp and also uses a lot more tweaks to make it very fast.

It also uses the Best Performance option. So for people who would prefer to use less RAM with the new Firedragon they just need to change that setting. Currently mine uses 540megs of RAM with 6 tabs opened and Best Performance selected.

Thanks for telling,
I have just one problem with it , firedragon doesn’t seems to sync my data , maybe it is already addressed by you to how to fix it in the firedragon testing thread :slightly_smiling_face:

but I haven’t looked for it till now :sweat_smile:

It is indeed part of my list of things to fix.

please have a look at this :smiley: :

This fix was actually suggested by @BluishHumility

/ Override Firedragon's hardcoded file-picker setting
lockPref("widget.use-xdg-desktop-portal.file-picker", 2);

// Use Mozilla sync servers
lockPref("identity.sync.tokenserver.uri", "https://token.services.mozilla.com/1.0/sync/1.5");

// Restore user-triggered clipboard access
defaultPref("dom.event.clipboardevents.enabled", true);

I just remembered it now, and added it in my .firedragon

I hope this will help :slightly_smiling_face:

Interesting, thank you very much!
I will push another version today with these changes. I do not have a Mozilla account or FF account so it gets harder for me personally to test this.

It is actually working for me, I have switched from floorp to firedragon because it is syncing my data :wink:
(Just a small feedback)
