Dracosophy
A newly minted Linux user.
- I’ve spent the approx. 4 months following January 2025 researching which Linux distro(s) to try/use, and then focusing mainly on Garuda…
which was an easy sell with it’s stand-out stylishness, Arch-based-customization-abilities, to the fantastic GUI tools/utilities, and the super ‘Btrfs assistant’ system snapshot system. - Then was pleasantly surprised at the solid competence of not just the Linux or Arch community, but in particular the amazing Garuda, community.
- The only other time i used Linux before was about 20 years ago when i spent a few minutes fiddling with [a Ubuntu or] something my friend was running his living-room TV box! Which reminds me that i tried Xubuntu 22 recently and found Garuda XFCE far superior!
- I have fairly old hardware, at this point, but for more than 10 years it did most everything i wanted in windoze, & now i’m determined to be sure i need it before i buy a new system (or even just upgrade out of Nvidia gpu’s / into an intel or AMD one); it’s not just about the ~±$150, but also pride, & principles. Principles like keeping my new plastic-product production/acquisition to a minimum (see ‘ocean of trash’ info. if you ever want more reasons to dislike plastic).
