I commend your tact in giving me a “let me google that for you” response. It’s usually me giving that sort of response - lesson learned. ![]()
My youngest is turning 21 this year, for what that matters. I’m not sure what age has to do with not having much time to dig into these things. I’m also in the job market full time, trying to get my side project off the ground, and keeping up on household stuff. So the little bit of time I have left in a day, I have a choice. Either I can spend that time digging into this, when I’m usually mentally spent, or I can just have a sub-par/bad gaming experience and get some downtime. On top of all of that, I’m right next to the Minneapolis powder-keg that feels like it’s going to kick off WWIII any day now.
Back on topic, now.
Looking into disabling the powersaving on my wifi, I found that I already have the conf file as you outlined in this answer. I’ve restarted a few times since adding that, so I don’t know if I’ve messed something up or something else is going on.
As for changing drivers, I’m so inexperienced with drivers on Linux it makes me a bit nervous. There are 5 results searching this forum for RTL8922AE or even just 8922 and this post is one of them. I hear about problems around wifi 7 with how new it is and just want to make sure I’m not going to bork things up using a different driver.
I’ll give those 2 packages (kwin-x11 & plasma-x11-session) a shot. I don’t have Wayland on my instance and I assume the select the X11 session will become evident when I get to the login screen after installing them. I just installed them & will be rebooting after posting this.
More fruitless troubleshooting efforts FWIW
My newest mobo has 2 CPU power plugs. I just got a more powerful new PSU to accommodate that with not much change in behavior. I’m grasping at straws at this point & thought maybe the onboard wifi was getting too little power. ![]()
Part of me wonders if it’s our router/wifi 'cause of 3 mobos in a row having issues, but it’s just me having issues.
EDIT
Just rebooted & let things simmer - apparently the Spotify app is a good indicator when my wifi bugs out. I’m also using wavemon to monitor signal strength, etc. and I noticed that now both Spotify and wavemon show their “no connection” at the same time. I’ll be looking into what I’m doing wrong with the powersave stuff for tonight.
