They should really send you a new router if the existing one is using WEP - how old is it?

I don't know, but I think it's too old
If the router is the original supplied by the isp, then just replace the router with one that uses wpa/wpa2 (they're not expensive and any new router will have wpa by default), 'cause using wep is utterly insecure and incredibly easy to hack into.
It can depend on the agreement with the ISP, e.g. they might require use of their equipment (especially if it's a business contract).
