so how do i know which gpu is running the display r8 now? i tried switching to hybrid mode but is says command not found

As your picture shows, optimus-manager does not support Wayland.
You could maybe try with a Plasma x11 session (to be selected in the login screen).
Even better, stick to the the official method to support switchable graphics (Prime rendered offload), that’s why optimus-manager is not installed by default:

TL;DR Normally you should be using your iGPU (intel), only when using prime-run, you will use the Nvidia dGPU.
