Can someone help me decide which is better for programmers? I tried the KDE draganized version, but it overheated my system and caused the battery to drain quickly.
So I like to use lightweight machines; therefore, is XFace or Gnome good? Or is Garuda only for gamers?

You had a pretty decent laptop with i7, so I guess all versions will work well on your machine.
Regarding heating issue, I already told you to use thermald, which is just a single click away.
If you still wanna try a lightweight version, try XFCE or cinnamon but not gnome. Gnome can be heavy sometime.
And yeah, all versions are equally suitable for developers, in my humble opinion.
