Does Garuda auto-update some packages?
Because since I installed it, I didn't have many updates when checking with yay.
I would want you to confirm if Garuda auto-updates some packages. That feature would be great, after all, we have snapper.

No, we didn't auto-update anything. Users are responsible of keeping their systems up to date using the garuda-update command.
That being said, garuda-system-maintenance is supposed to send a notification whenever no update happened for 2 weeks.
