Web Browser Sound

Hello Again, Friends!,

I am a little unsettled to ask this because I know I am just overlooking something silly, but I must have pressed a shortcut key or changed something in the desktop configuration because each time I close and re-open my browser and enter into a video host site (such as YT), my sound will be muted. It happens in any web browser that I choose to use and my only known thing to fix this is to select 'play all audio via this device' within my HDMI volume slide. I have to repeat this process to regain the browser sound each time I close and open the web browser. Sorry friends...I am not used to the highly configurable attributes of Garuda and KDE. I love this distro! It really is slick!!!

Best Regards,

Jeff

Refusing to post the output of the required "garuda-inxi" on a help request will likely result in you not receiving any help from the Garuda team. A failure to provide your system specs may also result in your thread being closed without notice, (as without this information providing assistance is often next to impossible).

Before opening a new help request, please search the Arch and Garuda Wiki's, and read any relevant sections related to your issue. Also, thoroughly search any error messages in the forum's search engine and on the web. For in depth information on how to search for answers to Linux issues effectively read the tips on the Garuda Wiki:

Please report in detail everything you have already attempted to solve your problem.

The template above should be deleted before posting your help request.

First, reboot. It’s KDE

Thank you SGS for the response.

I rebooted first. Because it is a computer

If I choose from the "play all" selection where my mouse pointer is hovering, audio is regained within my browser. The issues also affect programs such as VLC but not the computer's sound effects. NOT just web browsers.

This could be causing your issue.
Using PulseAudio, you could be still be affected by this:

If you are currently not using PipeWire for audio and wireplumber got installed on your system, please reinstall pipewire-media-session and reboot to restore audio functionality.

pacman -Syu pipewire-media-session

and leave PulseAudio.
Or you could try removing PulseAudio and stay with Pipewire only, which seems to be in my opinion the most appropriate configuration.

filo,

DUDE!!! How cool are you!!!!!

That fixed it, my friend, and I thank you so very much! I am removing PulseAudio as you suggest.

My thanks to SGS who also offered a reply and his suggestion. I appreciate you both and wish you blessings!

Regards,

Jeff
