We are preparing for a new major release - this is how you can help!

IDK, but just use GUI packages manager as search tool and use the original pacman in terminal, there is last but not least, there is garuda-update to prevent problems.

I always use garuda-update for system/program updates but octopi to install new apps.

Instead of hardcoding the icons, can we please just have the garuda-icons package include all the icons needed for every Garuda official application instead of hardcoding them into every application that needs to mention another application? In my opinion, that seems like the superior approach.

You’re welcome!

I don’t feel like hunting for my post about the default theme, and since it never got answered I’ll ask again.

Has the issue with not being able to drag widgets to the desktop or panel if the default theme is in use been addressed yet? Thanks

On the new release (dr460nized), Firefox, Home is displaying the ā€˜Recent Activity’ in a column rather than a row. I compared (recent & new releases) the Settings → Home, Recent Activity; both have the same settings. I also have the same extensions, themes, and plug-ins in both systems. I’m not sure what other parameters to check.

I have had that problem with ONE widget and it was not theme related cuz I was using a different one.
I am crossing fingers Plasma 6.3 will do something good.
Either way I would not chase any UI irritant at the moment, cuz things may change with 6.3.

Garuda did not do anything regarding Firefox, we don’t include it by default in the ISOs. Your issue might be some changes on the Firefox side.

Normally I wouldn’t but this is theme related cause I know of others that ran into the same issue with the default theme, and When I used the theme in ReBorn and Arch I got the same issue. It is something with the Sweet theme / Dragonized.

As said happened to me with another theme completely.
Once 6.3 lands I will retest (and you as well) and from there try to see if there is any common base to that.
The theme I tried is 100% different than Dr460nized so worst case it could be a default widget or something else that is present in all of our Plasma spins.
But no one knows what 6.3 will impact.

After the new OS release and Plasma 6.3 might be worth posting which widgets we add.

What do you mean by ā€œaddingā€ widgets?

I mean listing which we use to see if there are specific ones that are part of the issue that were are using.

I think my 1st test will be to try without any widget and then add them 1 by 1.

But my problem is this issue is very intermittent for me, so god knows how many times I need to execute the same test to ensure I actually test something…

EDIT: The list of widgets can be found in

/usr/share/plasma/layout-templates/org.garuda.desktop.defaultPanel/contents/layout.js
/usr/share/plasma/layout-templates/org.garuda.desktop.defaultDock/contents/layout.js

I went ahead and took the leap, I’m not entirely sure what Mokka is, but it runs smoothly! Nice graphics interface. Looking forward to more info. If you want any info, let me know what to do to get info.

That’s normal it hasn’t officially been released yet so no Release Notes yet.
But it’s a Plasma spin, of course…

Care to post some screenshots? I’m curious but not quite brave enough to install yet.

My earlier post here has one:

Hopefully I won’t have to take it down due to spoilers :joy:

Anywho I have some other things… I am currently using the i3 spin and it works great. Installed from Ventoy like a charm.
Also noticed that Calamares is in light theme, which is good because it addressed the font colour issue I mentioned in my other post.
A few things I’ve noticed, though:

  • Config includes autostart entries for programs not installed by default (xsettingsd, ff-theme-util, desktop-items) - not a big deal but wondering if it’s intentional?
  • There is no indication that exec --no-startup-id ~/.local/bin/shcts autostarts the cheatsheet - it took me a while of hunting around before I finally figured it out… >_>;;
  • Default Dunst notifications are HUGE:

Stil in the middle of ricing my setup so it doesn’t look 100% there yet

These aren’t dealbreakers but thought to mention in case any of this is unintended.

That’s right, changes sometimes leave dead bodies

??? My translation app and I do not know what’s the problem is.

That part is about how the line in the i3 config
exec --no-startup-id ~/.local/bin/shcts
has no comment that it is for automatically starting the window that shows you the keybinds. Took me a long time to figure it out but maybe I’m just too stupid to use i3 :upside_down_face:

As mentioned, it’s no problem if these things stick around for the final release, but someone might see it as a quality control issue or something.
Massive Dunst notifications are no deal breaker either, it makes sure you will see them  otherwise, the defaults are good.

Ahh, ok, give me the dunst values for people with eagle eyes like do you have
@lum1nuss Changed to half and now waiting for posts that it is too small.

Yes, of course, a hint can’t hurt, but my foremen (maintainer) didn’t make any in the autostart area either
