Unable to Update Garuda linux due to being out of date as well as keyrings not downloading

when trying to update (due to being out of date) my system it always runs into errors with the keyrings packages not downloading. and i have tried: garuda-update – --overwrite ‘*’/ sudo pacman -Sy chaotic-keyring archlinux-keyring && sudo pacman -Su / and even a simple garuda-update. it all runs into the same issue of the PGP key or Keyrings having a error. Its quite lengthy but, below is what i normally end up with when trying to update.

garuda-update -- --overwrite '*'

Um, you might want to have mentioned that you haven’t updated your Garuda system in almost a year when you first made your help request. Rolling distros should really be updated weekly, or bi-weekly at most.

While I’ve manage to update systems 6 months out of date more than once, a year is really expecting a bit much. I’m not saying it’s impossible if you are a technically proficient Arch user, but that is a bit of an ask for the average person.

Perhaps you need to reevaluate if a rolling distro is really for you, maybe a static distro such as Mint or Ubuntu would be more in keeping with your update frequency.

A year without updates on a rolling release distro is not yet a record, but I recommend you do the same as in this topic:

English:

Please don’t get me wrong, but your system is garbage to say the least. You haven’t made any system updates since 2021 - even if there is much less malware for Linux than for Windows, you have several old packages (including the kernel) with unpatched security holes and nobody can guarantee that your system hasn’t been compromised in the last 4 years - your system is not only a security risk for you but also for others on the Internet. You can’t even talk about a patch level because you simply don’t have one.

Not only because of the upcoming update orgy with all kinds of fiddling around, but above all for security reasons, I strongly recommend that you reinstall Garuda.

Hi

just try this in the terminal .

garuda-update remote fullfix

had same issue but only because bios reset wrong date but this helped me. You can read in the wiki what it does
