I've been distro and desktop hopping for a week to figure out what would work best on the 8GB original Surface Go and I can without a doubt say the Wayfire edition of Garuda is pretty much the only thing that treats touch as something other than a mouse and it's glorious. Now I'll have to fully install it and set it up correctly (that'll take a while), but for anyone looking for an actual touch interface Wayfire is the best I've found.

Interesting. I've been using GNOME on a tablet and it works pretty well... might have to give Wayfire a go now.
