System update initialises DE settings

After the latest update I noticed that the (KDE) DE settings were initialized.
Is this intentionally and / or has this been changed recently?
I cannot remember that I experienced this before.
On the contrary, before I was looking in /etc/skel/. to see if there were any changes after a system update that I wanted to copy over to my home directory.
Now I had to do it the other way around: compare the current 'home settings' to a previous version that I had backed up and re-apply relevant differences to get my familiar DE back

Yeah, we have changed many a settings. And if you were using an old version, you can simply compare logs to see the settings that have changed.

@Naman, I'm not sure what you mean by "compare logs". Can you elaborate on this please?
