Sunsetting the Garuda Linux Matrix services

Ahh i figured lol, bridge is always breaking somehow :joy: time for the IRC party lolol

So is the sunsetting only for Matrix accounts on the Garuda-hosted service? Or will the support channel be going down as well? (Because that would take matrixbridge down with it too right?)

Sorry if I’ve got it wrong haha, just a bit confused

The channel is currently invite-only and will be closed entirely tomorrow as well. That channel has always been the main target of abuse, so that will also be taken down, unfortunately.

We will be switching to another bridging service.

I can imagine.
Nowadays, if you are not careful with privacy setting on e.g. Discord and other messaging platforms, people will send you evil, disgusting and mentally scarring things.
Sorry that people had to endure that.

#garudachat:darkness.services is a channel I setup on my matrix instance if anyone cares to visit and use. I find matrix to be of great use. I’m not a coder, just a person and my instance is secured from people making accounts on it. I would live to open it, but spam is a real issue.

But the channel is there, sad it probably wont get used as no one knows about it.

Go figure, I don’t think it’s that big of a deal.

So is this considered a more secure form of Matrix in the sense that it regulates the issues of the previous version?

talk and blog “releases” are one thing but for open source projects we have the advantage of actually looking at the code and figuring out whether it is (theoretically) more secure. I am personally waited for my third party trusted sources and open to other info on what this update means.
