the PC works normally ( i have not noticed any lags, bugs, crashes etc).
Would you, based on the info below, think that there is something fishy going on with my nvme?

Are you running VirtualBox?

This looks like a big mess of seemingly unrelated journal messages, most of which I don’t think you need to worry about if you aren’t having any specific problems.

These errors can be caused by a motherboard manufacturer being lazy with the spec, which is very common if the intent is to just make sure it will boot Windows and not look more closely than that. A lot of Linux systems have similar errors at every boot because of how the kernel finds and announces ACPI issues.

Check to see if there is a BIOS update available for your motherboard; that is the most appropriate way to get these errors resolved (if the vendor has addressed these issues, that is). Another thing you could try would be booting with acpi=off kernel parameter, although if you aren’t running into any actual issues I’m not sure I would even bother.

Do you have gnome-keyring installed for some reason? I believe that’s what gkr is in this case.

pacman -Qs gnome-keyring

Maybe it was installed but not properly configured, or maybe something else, I’m not sure. If you do some research you can probably figure out how to resolve this message or get it to stop, but probably it’s not anything to worry about.

I think this message seems more ominous than it is. I believe the “BTRFS Assistant Snapper check” is related to this autostart file at /etc/xdg/autostart/snapper-tools-check.desktop:

#!/usr/bin/env xdg-open
[Desktop Entry]
Exec=bash -c "grep -q .snapshots /proc/cmdline && sleep 3 && snapper-tools --autostart"
Icon=timeshift
Name=BTRFS Assistant Snapper check
Type=Application
X-GNOME-Autostart-enabled=true
X-KDE-autostart-after=panel

It checks if the string “.snapshots” is present in the kernel command line (it basically checks if you are booted into a snapshot), and if so runs snapper-tools --autostart. Since you are not booted into a snapshot, the command won’t be executed (it gets an exit code before it gets to the first &&). This is the expected behavior since the command is designed to run conditionally.

My guess is if you boot into a snapshot, you will not see this failure reported in the log and the snapper-tools command would be run instead.

What is this device? Something in /etc/fstab? Why is systemd looking for it? If it is not something you need mounted you could try to track it down and take it out of fstab, or where ever else in systemd land the attempted mount is coming from.

From what I understand, the I2C bus is a communication protocol related to devices communicating with each other. It looks like you have a problem with bus 9. It could be a hardware issue like a bad connection, or it could be a driver or kernel issue…it could be any number of devices using bus 9, like sensors or controllers or anything really. Who knows!

Again, if you are not having any specific issue I wouldn’t worry about it.

I would say maybe don’t use that kernel. :sweat_smile:

In general I think if you aren’t having issues with the system, no need to go digging through the journal trying to figure out what every little message means. Get your BIOS up to date (:wink:), and other than that I don’t see any cause for alarm here.

Turns out something went wrong with my quiet setting on GRUB and things escalated from there! Thank you for your help and the information! I will try to see if i can fix some of the errors if i get the time!

What did you do to fix it exactly? This happened to my system after the last kernel update… same kind of errors at boot and shutdown that you were getting. You said it’s grub, so I’m guessing that update changed something in my grub too.

Probably the messages were always there, but not visible until:

You can configure a silent boot like so: Silent boot - ArchWiki

TL;DR: add these kernel parameters:

quiet loglevel=3 systemd.show_status=auto rd.udev.log_level=3

An easy way to add them would be in Garuda Boot Options, add them to the parameters line and click Apply.

I apologize. I actually thought they would help you. Maybe it’s too early or too late.

Ah thank you. Yeah the last grub update did some weird stuff, it commented out splash and put quiet twice. All back to normal now.
