Hello,
I’m hoping for some help with a stubborn Bluetooth issue that started after a garuda-update a couple of days ago.
My Soundcore Q30 headphones connect successfully for about 2-3 seconds, then immediately disconnect. My other Bluetooth headphones connect and work perfectly fine, so the issue is specific to the Soundcore Q30. The system is Garuda KDE Plasma 6 on Wayland, fully updated.
When the disconnect happens, bluetoothctl shows Reason.Remote Connection terminated by remote user, and the journalctl log for PipeWire shows spa.bluez5: Failure in Bluetooth audio transport.
Here is the most recent log from journalctl --user -f -u wireplumber.service -u pipewire.service:
Jun 06 14:06:09 CodeRaider wireplumber[26168]: pw.node: (bluez_output.98_47_44_7C_19_68.1-153) running -> error (Received error event)
Jun 06 14:06:09 CodeRaider wireplumber[26168]: spa.bluez5: Failure in Bluetooth audio transport /org/bluez/hci0/dev_98_47_44_7C_19_68/sep2/fd2
Jun 06 14:06:09 CodeRaider pipewire[26167]: pw.node: (bluez_output.98_47_44_7C_19_68.1-153) running -> error (Received error event)
I have tried an extensive list of fixes, none of which have resolved the issue:
-
Full system reboots.
-
Restarting the bluetooth.service.
-
Forgetting and re-pairing the device multiple times using both the KDE GUI and bluetoothctl.
-
Factory resetting the Soundcore Q30 headphones themselves (holding Power + Volume Up).
- Package Reinstallation & Codecs:
-
Forcibly reinstalled bluez, bluez-utils, pipewire, and wireplumber.
-
Installed additional codec support with sudo pacman -S libldac and paru -S libfreeaptx.
- Kernel Change:
- Installed and attempted to boot with the linux-lts kernel. Unfortunately, my system hangs when trying to boot the LTS kernel, so I was unable to test this. I am back on the standard linux-zen kernel.
- PipeWire/WirePlumber Configuration:
-
I tried disabling all advanced codecs (AAC, LDAC, aptX) by creating a .lua config in /etc/wireplumber/bluetooth.lua.d/ to force the basic SBC codec. The problem persisted.
-
I tried creating a rule in /etc/wireplumber/main.lua.d/ to force the A2DP profile for the device. The problem persisted.
-
I tried creating a rule to force the AAC codec specifically for the Soundcore Q30. The problem persisted.
Given that other headphones work, this seems to be a very specific regression bug between the latest software stack (PipeWire/Bluez/Kernel) and the firmware of the Soundcore Q30. I’ve exhausted all the troubleshooting steps I can think of.
Any guidance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
