SNAP: "cannot locate base snap core: No such file or directory"

I've been trying to get snap to install the hello-world program from the snap store for a few hours now, it will just not cooperate. My terminal outputs this:

╭─colinkehoe at Colins-laptop in ⌁
╰─λ sudo snap install hello-world
Warning: /snap/bin was not found in your $PATH. If you've not restarted your session since you
installed snapd, try doing that. Please see https://forum.snapcraft.io/t/9469 for more
         details.

hello-world 6.4 from Canonical✓ installed

II have tried a log out/in and a reboot. Nothing. Also checked the link it provides but did not get much that I understood. 'm not sure what's going on here. can someone help?

Great. Thanks for replying. What would be an easy alternative to snapd and flatpak?

Try the AUR. Much better than snaps and flatpaks in terms of system performance, overall software availability and privacy. Snaps especially slow down the system. But have a look through the PKGBUILD before you install anything from AUR.
