Felt that today. I need windows on my laptop for my tool to read/write ECU's on cars
I so wish they would put all that stuff on Linux. The last shop I worked at I was the guy that would flash modules for cars when they needed to be replaced, and it never failed every time I did my boss’s laptop would update, so I would have to wait an hour just to flash a PCM that would normally take 5 minutes. Now that I am not doing car stuff professionally and only doing it as a hobby it is still the same thing, the tuning software for my car is windows only. The saving grace though is that I have a pro license on my Windows 10, so I can turn off updates.
Yep, I never did that professionally but I've done my education in manufacturing engineering hence I have a general clue about cars, as most other machines. I got myself a kinda cheap plug in box for VAG (VW, Audi, Skoda, MAN, Scania...) and it works very well but just on Windows like in your case.
I'm using AeroTweaker for choking windows silly stuff
Still feels filthy to work with it ...
<off-topic>
BTW, VCDS work on Linux wine fine for me .

yeah I know it works, a friend of mine does work with it on Linux as well but my cheap china plug doesn't like Linux
My friend does have a 2k€ device O_o
It’s looks like the world is changing…
My Computer book last year :
My younger brother’s current Computer book…
FOSS is growing
Is the inclusion of FOSS in your syllabus caused by your IT teacher being a Linux enthisuast or your syllabus being managed centrally?
This is included in our syllabus , our sayllabus is maintained by CBSE (central board of secondry education ) , the all over syllabous at national level in India is maintained by CBSE.
My C.S. teacher knows about Linux and FOSS things but he is not a fan of it . Currently our teacher’s main focus is to teach us programming in python and working on MySQL.
Talking about inclusion of ubuntu and FOSS in my brother’s book was done at his school level
But mine is through CBSE
