RTL8822be - Issues with Realtek Wifi

This is something you want to put in place while your wifi is working to prevent it from breaking again. From what I did read once it has broken these fixes may not do anything for you. Hopefully they will prevent your wifi from breaking again. Unfortunately, until proper fixes are incorporated into the bios and the kernel these breaks may keep occurring.

Very sad that a manufacturer like Lenovo that is normally quite Linux friendly isn’t on top of this. Some Realtek chips are very good with Linux, the Lenovo laptops with their proprietary Windows hardware management software have created wifi problems for ages.

The old solution used to be to blacklist the ideapad_laptop module until kernel changes helped with these issues. That fix may still be applicable in some cases where the kernel is not handling these chips properly.

You could test this command if your wifi breaks again:

sudo rmmod ideapad_laptop

Be sure to close all programs you have open before running that command in case your in built keyboard loses functionality.

You could also try restarting dbus and then all your network services when a breakage occurred. I read one post where a user said that successfully initiated the wifi.

If you cannot get this working on a consistent basis you might want to check the Lenovo documentation to see if they have whitelisted an Intel adapter that can be substituted for the 8822be. You can’t just swap in any wifi card. It needs to be an model approved by your manufacturer that will work with your bios.

Good luck to you with this.

This seems promising, I’ll give it a go now. Thanks for the suggestion.

Sure, I'll keep that in mind. Thank you!
