Screenshots of two exploited systems; same system screenshot of the bios exploit; also Asus 555D similar chip-set laptop with bios bug that broke the system from beta 100723.
No CO Detector. Thank you for the concern. Any other ideas?
Does your computerâs BIOS have any of the following:
- Secure BootâOn
- FastbootâOn
- Hardware DetectionâOff or Auto
Is there a BIOS update more current than 2017?
Does it now have Windows installed?
Have you been places on the internet you shouldnât have?
The answers are important.
Secure boot is on and was probably compromised previous to this attack because it was not causing issues from Garuda. Windows probably was exploited or got exploited first as it was a previous install before switching to Garuda (before things were even working and working this well).
Fast boot is off. Auto detection does not exist on this board or is convoluted.
Bios Password was also removed; Mouse also gets stuck in bios so it is not possible to be used from glitching out from the exploit; settings were changed. This will likely happen again too.
Bios will need to be flashed; there are no updates; Asus stated that the board is not going to get any updates even though they know about the issues. Waiting for Zen 5 to be released to upgrade.
Most computers from 2014 are not getting bios updates after 2017 (at least from Asus) maybe Framework would be better; two newer zen based does not have this issue; bios is been updated.
Both computers do not have windows installed; one is only Garuda; other was windows (which was wiped and erased yet the boot hook still is there and PopOS ubuntu based is still installed. Laptop was wiped. Desktop is about to be wiped with a fresh install with no other OS partitions. Just closing as many holes as possible before doing a fresh install. Issues seem to have started after a Garuda update; this is why suspected payload of the kernels being used (hardened & Zen only now) or firmware was mentioned; really only use Soundcloud, now not logged in Youtube, Firestorm Viewer & Steam which were all causing problems at one point but seem to have been fixed mostly. ESO is also remotely exploitable seems like.
Used to work for a mainstream horror film score composer; had a friend in data forensics also an NSA contractor; probably had something to do with that yet most issues seem to be solved with Linux now and with the newer computers more so and Zen 5 soon. Most of the Plasma issues are fixed too. It is an older board so there is not much that can be done. Just closing holes. .
After the fresh install & update using the latest beta iso; the login screen reappeared for 2 fresh installs with auto login turned on; internet via usb adapter briefly cycled on and off after installing Obsidian.
Not sure if this has been reported as a bug for the new Beta ISO; comments have been closed so there is no way to report it there. This is still happening for the latest Beta ISO from 101123.
Very happy with this operating system. Appreciate the responses which are always faster then expected. Much appreciated
Also another bug that has been happening on multiple systems recently; search terms can not be used twice in Dolphin File manager on KDE; this might have been due to a recent change.
Secure Boot is a no-no with most Linux distributions, including Arch-based such as Garuda. Typically, you can install only if Secure Boot is set to Off.
Everything else is gobbledygook. Iâm am done with this thread.
Iâm not sure my guy. The BIOS message reads like it was flashed incorrectly. The volatile files and directories thing is from systemd to my knowledge, doesnât matter the distro and doesnât indicate anything is compromised or exploited.
Bios was hacked; after an update; as stated above.
Much appreciated.
Pull the CMOS and reflash it then? I still havenât seen anything indicating your system is being exploited. You say you can tell there are manipulations of packages but where? You havenât shown anything.
Might break the bootloader; waiting for the new ISO; trying to close bugs.
Much appreciated.
Perhaps you might want to invest in one then.
