No usable desktop environment

Upon launching a game I got a freeze, so I switched to another TTY and rebooted. This isn't incredibly uncommon when you use wine staging... When I went to log in again, I didn't have anything but icons, which can't be interacted with. So I figured it was a bad update and went to snapshots. None of them produce different behavior. All the way back to the first. The same result with mainline kernel, zen, and lts. I cannot post inxi yet for obvious reasons, but it should be similar to the last one posted in my previous thread about mysterious orphans.

EDIT: here is inxi after getting back into a working desktop:

Create new user. My guess is that KDE settings got broken so KDE doesn't work.

It works on a new user! How can I reset the KDE settings for my user without a GUI?

EDIT: tried gksu -u tech garuda-assistant and reset latte config to no avail.

EDIT 2: I found this post and used the ‘all’ checkbox with the above method for opening garuda-assistant. It is very annoying to lose all my customizations, but at least I have a working DE now!
