No back light control after waking from sleep

Hello! Having a issue with back light. I was able to rectify my no back light control issue by adding acpi_backlight=video to the grub. However when I wake from sleep I have no control again and my brightness is stuck at 0% so it becomes unusable and i have to reboot to gain control again. My sleep back light issue has persisted across several different distros, nobara, Pop and now garuda. I am using an Optimus laptop, brightness control does work when waking from sleep on windows. I have had to add the grub command across all distros as well for initial control. Also if it helps ls /sys/class/backlight returns
