Mouse clicks not registering

Hi

I am having a problem with my mouse clicks not registering. Moving the mouse works just fine but clicks do not generate events. Everything was working fine for a couple of days after installation but after a reboot it didn't work anymore.

Xev does not register any button press events, but other events work, the same happens with
libinput debug-events. The mouse is using libinput as a driver, at least based on xorg log. I think scrolling is interpreted as button presses, so that doesn't work either. I tried to look if Click Methods from libinput were disabled for some reason, but it looks like that configuration option is not available.

I would appreciate assistance in getting the mouse buttons to work again.

Welcome
First reboot your PC, check.
Could you check with other mouse?
Boot live ISO and check.

Hope your hardware is not broken.

Rebooting PC did nothing, that I checked before (and should have remembered to mention)
I tested with another mouse, that mouse works.
Booting with live ISO, neither mouse works.
Booting to Windows, both mouses work, so luckily it's not broken hardware (unluckily, that means the issue still persists)

I don't see any differences in configuration, at least xinput list-props outputs are identical

OMG

BT-Mouse?
Please post output from

I’m sorry, I have no knowledge about libinput stuff.

That is exactly what I thought too.

The mouse is a wired USB mouse. The motherboard has built-in Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, which use the Intel 3168 chip. The interfaces for that are PCIe for Wi-Fi and USB for Bluetooth, that’s why it shows up as Bluetooth type: USB driver.

The weird thing is, after putting the computer to sleep for the night, it did not show a picture after waking it. After yet another reboot, the mouse works now. I have no idea what is happening and would love it if someone could enlighten me.

Anyway, thank you for your help!

Is your bios up to date?

Test out three alternate kernels. Be sure to test at least the LTS and mainline kernels.
