Low rear sound on virtual surround

I have a SteelSeries Arctic 7 (7.1 virtual surround) on which I am trying to get the VS to work. I have tried various fixes I found in online forums but to no avail.
Some of them are working just fine, whilst others don't. Under is the output of speaker-test -c 8 -t wav:

speaker-test 1.2.4

Playback device is default
Stream parameters are 48000Hz, S16_LE, 8 channels
WAV file(s)
Rate set to 48000Hz (requested 48000Hz)
Buffer size range from 24 to 262144
Period size range from 8 to 87382
Using max buffer size 262144
Periods = 4
was set period_size = 65536
was set buffer_size = 262144
 0 - Front Left
 4 - Center
 1 - Front Right
 7 - Side Right
 3 - Rear Right
 2 - Rear Left
 6 - Side Left
 5 - LFE

0, 4, 1 - work fine
7, 3, 2, 6 - I can barely hear
5 - no sound

Can someone please help me?

Hey, there @zeno. It's really hard to remotely debug someone's sound issues, especially when it's not an occurance that is seen regularly. You might get lucky and someone can offer advice, but I think you might just have to work through this as best you can.

Good luck.

I see. Well, I've tried some of the suggestions found on both the Arch Wiki and the Ubuntu forums, but none of it seemed to help. I guess I'll just have to cross my fingers and see if anyone's got a suggestion for me to try out.

The only suggestion I have is to see if the new updates to alsa help your situation too. There has been a lot of sound weirdness lately!

PS: There are some new updates today - and they have solved the troubles for more than one poster I have seen... I'll get back to you after I try MY issue again after the update

Edit: My trouble seem to be over - hope yours are too!
