Linux VT console size being limited by second display. Any way to avoid this?

This is a minor annoyance but if I want to switch to a VT with the function keys and use the framebuffer console, the number of rows of text is tiny. This appears to be because I have a second monitor that is small, and during the boot process at the point where it sets the console resolution and clears the screen, it makes both displays mirrored, setting them to the smallest size. It’s not actually changing the resolution… it’s still 3840x2160 with 1:1 pixel mapping… but it basically sets the text col x row to what would fit on the smaller monitor, leaving most of the screen unusable black space.

I would like it to disregard the second monitor resolution and give me full framebuffer resolution on my main display. I’m hoping there’s s kernel boot arg that will do this or something. I’ve looked a bit and tried setting video= but it didn’t work. I also tried disabling the display with video=DP-2:d which did cause the console to be full screen again, however it made KDE kscreen2 unable to see the monitor (oddly, the monitor was still seen by Xorg, because I get a mouse cursor on the screen… but nothing else really works).

Again, this is just a minor annoyance since I don’t usually use the VT consoles for much. But it is an annoyance I’d like to fix if there is a way.
