Problem is fairly simple, when I bought my new laptop and tested USB-C charging on windows it worked fine, not quick but it worked. It won't work on Linux with the same cable.

I have tries various cables, low voltage, regular chargers and the one I tried with Windows was a OnePlus Warp Charger which worked great, but it won't work on garuda, maybe I'm missing some Usb power delivery modules?

Is it supposed to support charging the laptop using USB-C?

Oh, yes:

So - the laptop doesn't charge at all, even using the included power adapter?

I would recommend testing at least 3 alternate kernels, making sure that your bios is up to date, and testing the linux-firmware-git package.

Good luck

Also did you install any power saving utilities, like TLP for example.

That is your problem the Lenavo was designed for use on windows not Linux contact Lenavo they will probally tell you its does not support Linux :hearts: :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: Plus their tablets are very dodgy charging with USB-C it took 3 replacements to get it to charge.

Try enabling Rapid Charge as per the Arch Wiki entry for Lenovo IdeaPad 5

This one didn't work unfortunately.

I tried linux, linux-zen and linux-lts. Such a strange issue, althought I might have to give up on it soon.

This doesn't help.

However, the linux-firmware-git package instead of the regular linux-firmware solved the issue. I also installed slimbookbattery so not sure if that has something to do with it, but hey thank you.

When you have used Linux a few years you will understand "what i said was tongue in cheek"
Every problem Linux related is thrown out with the words "we don't support Linux" everything from a USB stick to a system is only supported for Windows read the disclaimers.
