Keyboard not Working on Tuxedo Laptop

So in short, if that is really the issue with the Keyboard, I am stuck with *buntus

The worst thing I bought in a longtime then was this '100% Linux compatible but only with the distros we choose and it is not the one you will like' Laptop from Tuxedo. :person_facepalming:

Contacted their support but it seems they are without these models with an Intel CPU.

IDK nothing about, just a shot in the dark.

Yes, tried that. They have AUR packages, they install and the module loads but nothing works.
Tried compiling as well and same result.

It can be done, but it’s a little hairy to set up. Take a read through and you’ll see what I mean:

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Unified_Extensible_Firmware_Interface/Secure_Boot

You can set up shim to sign your regular bootloader, which appears a bit complicated for Grub but is described here: Unified Extensible Firmware Interface/Secure Boot - ArchWiki

The rEFInd boot manager has simplified shim setup tremendously, requiring running only a simple command (refind-install --shim /usr/share/shim-signed/shim.efi for hash only and refind-install --shim /usr/share/shim-signed/shim.efi --localkeys for hash and keys), but obviously you’ll have to switch to rEFInd to take advantage of that.

It also sounds like shim 15.3+ may have complicated this setup, see the discussion here: rEFInd / Discussion / General Discussion: SBAT

I honestly have no idea what determines the version of shim that gets run, or if you can opt for a lesser version/how you would do that, et cetera.

If getting secure boot set up seems like too much of a hassle (it would for me), the other option that comes to mind is try booting the system in Legacy mode, if the UEFI supports it.

Have you contacted TUXEDO about this? This seems like a major oversight for a brand that is meant to be Linux-friendly.

Going through all this process is a bit of an overkill to me, I don't really have the time to tinker so much as in the past, that's why I like Garuda, it helps me to setup everything up quickly and makes my life easier. But I will think about it.

About the Tuxedo support, they say that they only support Ubuntu and Kubuntu and their own OS, that is basically Kubuntu. And also only 22.04, 22.10 is not supported.
They gave me the option to return the laptop and change for a intel one, that does not seems to have this issue but is a strugle because I will be without a computer for almost 2 weeks, and I need it to work, etc. I am also the developer of Heroic Games Launcher so I am pretty busy with OSS development as well.

So it is a bit of a complicated situation.

But thanks a lot for the help, if you guys have any other idea, just drop it here.

“TUXEDO Computers does not offer its customers standard Linux PCs, but rather custom-tailored systems that are fully Linux-enabled.”

Either they don’t know any better or, as judges have already found, advertising lies.

So, to close this thread.
I found out that on the Garuda Settings manager, under Kernel, there is a Kernel 5.15 available to install, so it works just fine with it, not the best solution but it works.

Tuxedo answered me today that they tried to install Garuda and have confirmed the issue and are investigating it, but they said that it is on AMD side, so we might need to wait some kernel update to fix that.

Thanks for all the help, guys!
