Just wanted to provide my feedback about the KDE full image installation.
I could only get it to finish installation after disabling Conky and a bunch of other processes (inorder to reduce system load). Otherwise I found that the installer would freeze at about 36%. After disabling some processes, the system sort of froze at 45% but later picked it up and finished the installation.
My system specs:
Operating System: Garuda Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 5.19.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.74.0
Qt Version: 5.15.1
Kernel Version: 5.8.5-zen1-1-zen
OS Type: 64-bit
Processors: 4 × AMD Ryzen 3 PRO 3300U w/ Radeon Vega Mobile Gfx
Memory: 5.8 GiB of RAM
Graphics Processor: AMD RAVEN
I'm not saying that should happen, but the downloads page does state that the minimum recommended for an Ultimate Edition install is 6 GB of RAM.
Meeting the minimum recommended specs does not necessarily mean you will experience no performance issues. Perhaps a Lite version where you only install the packages and run only the services you actually need may be more conducive to a better experience with Garuda on your hardware.
Just a thought.
Even thought its written in a big fat font in the front page, I honestly didnt think I'd need to read it, because I didnt think I had a bad piece of hardware. This has proved me wrong.
Thanks for reminding me to be more humble lol
