Issue report: i needed to chroot and reinstall GRUB after my system automatically shut itself down

hey folks!

no huge issue to fix as i have already remedied my immediate problem, i just wanted to report a serious glitch that i had today after my machine turned itself off after the 45 mins i have it set to.

i had no issues starting up earlier this morning after a manual shutdown last night and i have done nothing to the system since a system update on the 21st, i cleaned out some old snapshots afterwards and that’s it.

i was reading the news online and left to take my dogs for a walk and when i returned my rig was powered off as expected but when i started it back up i had a total grub failure.
i had to chroot from a liveOS and reinstall grub as i had an ‘unknown filesystem’ error and ended up in grub recovery mode.

i have no clue as to why this happened and i have never encountered this before and feel that i should report the incident to the team due to the significance of the issue.

iirc i was running only firedragon and protonvpn’s GUI app at the time of the automatic shutdown.

lemme know if there is anything like log files or something else i can provide for you folks to analyze.

thanks all! =-)

Power blackout?
If no one else here complains, it seems to have hit only you.

Looks like my casual server is still a little OC.
