Is there a version of Garuda without pipewire as default?

I use a Panasonic CF-31 Mk-5.

New to Garuda, moved from over from Manjaro

pipewire is not nor has ever been compatible with the hardware that gives CF-31s sound, pulse audio is (with minor tweaking)

do to pipewire not being compatible with said hardware is there a version of garuda that comes with Pulseaudio as default, as there is no way to remove pipewire as far as i can tell without bricking the PC.

The short answer is “no”.

PipeWire supports PulseAudio. You can use whatever software you are already using. You should already have all the needed packages already installed, but some configuration may be required if you have a specialized use case.

The CF-31 Mk-5 has a simple Intel High Definition Audio subsystem, why should the hardware not be compatible with pipewire?

Please post your garuda-inxi so that we have an overview of the system.
A precise description of what is not working properly would also be useful.

It is not recommended, but it is possible to replace pipewire with pulseaudio, for example by simply using “Garuda Assistant”.

Looks good.

Should we use our :crystal_ball: or can you describe to us what exactly is not working with the audio under pipewire?

it simply may just be that im unfamiliar with pipewire, on Manjaro with PulseAudio it was this simple:

sudo gedit /usr/share/pulseaudio/alsa-mixer/paths/analog-output-speaker.conf

[Edit]

[Element Speaker]
required-any = any
switch = mute
volume = off

Save and done.

No Sound Whatsoever, config logs show everything enabled or true. ive had this issue on Manjaro when i tried pipewire and wireplumber, and reversed it by loading snapshot to pre-pipewire. cant do that here.

What ive tried so far:

removing Pipewire and adding Pulse Audio; result cant pipewire is a hard requirement of inbuilt software.

running pipewire and pulseaudio side-by-side; result cant conflicts with inbuilt software including eachother.

removing wireplumber and installing pulse; result, no difference.

removing pulse switching back to wireplumber; result no difference.

manually editing conf. ; result no difference.

hard updating wireplumber and pipewire; result no difference

complete hard reset ; result no difference

complete re-install of the system ; result no difference

Mods can close this topic, im not a fan of dealing with a headache…

im going to:

sudo dd bs=4M if=/home/cyberghost/Downloads/manjaro-lxqt-24.2.1-241216-linux612.iso of=/dev/sdb status=progress oflag=sync

sweet home no migraines.

If you change your mind, just let us know and we will open this topic again.

Good luck :slight_smile:
