The workaround comes from a discussion/troubleshooting related to a bug in the kernel which is the furthest thing from my knowledge...
Regarding the last part of my post, you can disregard it if not confortable: if you'll see the network disappear again, you know what to do.
Anyway, starting to practice with pacman configurations could be useful for the future to keep your system updates under control. Just search and read on the Arch wiki when you have a bit of time...
