Ok, not funny. Are you able to reboot the machine and from the GRUB menu select a SNAPSHOT, boot from it and restore data from the Garuda Assistant?
That'll get you back in a "running" system hopefully long enough to try troubleshooting or change settings. You probably should not lose log files doing this cuz they are stored in a different subvolume than the one you would restore from, but since I work with my own snapshot implementation I'd need someone who knows better Garuda Assistant to say if I'm right or not.
I tried restoring from a few snapshots and got Timed out waiting for device /dev/ipts/15.
Running garuda-update gives the following (and no resolution of the bug)

I can at least boot from an Ubuntu live stick, I will try with a garuda one.
Did this happen without any warning during a normal problem free session, or did it happen during the boot/reboot process.
What changes had you made prior to this happening?
If it happened during a boot/reboot, was this possibly your first reboot since doing your last update?
We will need some logs to have any real idea what happened here. I am only currently on my cell, so I canât give very specific instructions. Read some posts on the forum regarding termbin usage:
As long as your network connection is working in a TTY you can upload your logs to the forum. If you have no internet connection, then you would need to chroot into your installed system to post logs.
Have a read on termbin and see if you can upload some logs.
I believe I ran some updates (trying to get python working?). I can make a picture of the snapshot menu if helpful otherwise I donât know to export this as text.
Most likely.
Thanks a lot for taking the time to answer even on your cellphone, here is the result of your commands : https://termbin.com/2abis
Looking at this with my very untrained eye, I wish to give you the following precisions:
my dual boot with windows works (as flawlessly as windows can lol)
sometimes my laptop powers up all by itself, with zero chance of the power up button being pushed (which is not only annoying because sometimes I find myself with an empty battery and no way of charging it, and dangerous because it could burn in the backpack)
If I can add yet another element, it is not that bad if I have to reinstall Garuda, but my friend who installed it said it would be a bit technical to do without messing up with the dual boot (which I have to keep for work.)
This will seem off topic but bear with me you'll see where I'm going.
Why are you dual-booting Windows?
Are you gaming in Windows?
Reason I ask is cuz if it's not really required but you just require "Windows working", then you can have only Garuda installed and you virtualize Windows (with Virtualbox or VirtManager, the 2 most common I believe) within Garuda.
This solution has proven ideal for me. With 3D acceleration enabled in VirtualBox (there's a bug on that with VirtManager) it's as fast as running it on physical machine, if not more cuz it boots faster.
What I'm saying is if you want to reinstall Garuda and start clean, which could fix the issue of your OP, but hesitate to go fwd cuz you think you'll mess up the dual-boot, well then just think about my suggestion, maybe it applies to you as it does to me.
This normally means a GNOME extension has crashed or is crashing GNOME Shell. You can move/remove extensions from under $HOME/.local/share/gnome-shell/extensions/ so they are âdisabledâ and then try logging in again.
One option would be for this friend to help you fix the problem - your friend has installed a distribution that needs regular maintenance (because itâs a rolling release and so things regularly change) so unless youâre looking to learn how Linux works then a different distribution would be more appropriate.
I (believe I) need windows to access windows apps that I am, rarely, required to use for classes I may have to teach (being a PhD student) such as teams.
I bought this laptop specifically to have the touchscreen and be able to write with the pen in OneNote. I believe the touchscreen is not working in garuda right?
Taking notes with the pen is something I really need, also to make didactic talks online.
Iâm not gonna be gaming, the laptop simply isnât suited for that as itâs very weak (even just for normal use) but itâs the only CPU model I could buy with the university. I have a big desktop where I can all my other stuff but this is the computer I use at the office.
This is something I could do but before deleting windows I need a 100 percent certainty that this solution will work for the above stated needs.
He tried but couldnât help. He chose this distribution because it had a newer kernel that had the hardware compatibility to fix my previous problem (with PopOs, unable to connect to most networks). For myself I am willing to learn of course, and loved garuda so far. But the learning curve may be a bit steep for me a priori.
